PHOENIX, ARIZONA, City Guide provided by Amber Lane, Independent Escort

The Phoenix metropolitan area grew from the remnants of canals built by the ancient Hohokam Indians. Today, more than 20 communities, as well as the town of Wickenburg and the outlying Superstition Mountains, make up the resort destination also known as the Valley of the Sun.

With this booming growth, visitors have found a wealth of attractions, hotels and resorts, cultural outlets, shopping and activities for a memorable vacation.

Arizona's most populous area offers visitors a stay at a dude ranch in Wickenburg; pampering spa treatments at a plethora of resorts; history and culture of ancient and modern day Native Americans; some of the best dining establishments in the country; major league teams in the NBA, NHL, MLB, WNBA and other spectator sports; as well as the opportunity to explore and enjoy nature within a few minutes of the urban landscape.

WHAT'S NEW
Dodge Theatre: One of Phoenix's newest entertainment venues, the $35 million Dodge theatre, opened this past year in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Jerry Seinfeld and Harry Connick, Jr. were the first performers to inaugurate the 5,000-person state-of-the-art facility that will play host to a "who's who" of the entertainment world.

Designed specifically for Broadway shows, family stage shows, concerts, sporting events and major convention meetings, the venue boasts premier sound systems and topnotch acoustics.

The second phase, to be completed in 2003, will enhance rooms with the addition of 32-inch flat-screen Sony televisions, enlarged in-room safes for laptop computers and the installation of two line telephones to accommodate today's business travelers.
