Scheduled to open in November 2002, this 950-room resort will become the largest resort, spa and hotel in Arizona. HAWAIIAN AIRLINES' DAILY SERVICE
Hawaiian Airlines, the islands' largest and longest-serving carrier, announced new service from the South Pacific to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Beginning October, the airline will fly its 252-seat Boeing 767-300ER extended range aircraft with daily flights to the Valley of the Sun.

New shops opening in Glendale give an artsy angle to the city long known as a hub for antiques. ICE HOCKEY IN GLENDALE
Ground was broken this year for the Phoenix Coyote's Glendale "Ice Den" arena, which will bring National Hockey League action to the Northwest Valley for the team's 2003-2004 season.

UPGRADES TO HISTORIC RESORT
Begun in June of this year, The Wigwam Resort will complete the first phase of its $6 million guestroom refurbishment this fall. Built in 1918 as a company lodge for Goodyear Tire executives, and now a member of Starwood Hotels and Resorts' Luxury Collection, the resort's first phase will upgrade the furnishings and artwork, bed linens and bathrooms.

The second phase, to be completed in 2003, will enhance rooms with the addition of 32-inch flat-screen Sony televisions, enlarged in-room safes for laptop computers and the installation of two line telephones to accommodate today's business travelers.

FACILITIES BLOSSOM AT DESERT BOTANICAL GARDENS
Adding to its facilities, the Desert Botanical Gardens completed a $17 million expansion, which includes a new entry, volunteer center, indoor and outdoor classrooms, Desert Studies Center, gift shop and sales greenhouse.

The expansion highlights its five thematic trails, which illustrate topics such as conservation, desert living, plants and people of the Sonoran Desert and desert wildflowers.
