WATERFRONT DEVELOPMENT
Flowing water is not the first image that comes to mind when one thinks of Arizona; nevertheless, Scottsdale is trying to create an area similar to San Antonio's River Walk along the northern banks of the Arizona Canal that runs through town.

While the 11-acre site will include several office and residential sections, it also will feature a museum celebrating college football's Fiesta Bowl (held annually at the Sun Devil Stadium in nearby Tempe).

Also part of the blueprint is the SunDial Bridge, to be designed by architect Paolo Soleri, which will connect the canal to other parts of downtown. Dining and retail outlets scheduled to be built include P.F. Chang's China Bistro, the Sur La Table cookwares store, Borders Books & Music, Urban Outfitters and more. Ground was broken on the project in September.
